The following poem was published in the May-June 2005 issue of Writers' Journal in response to an earlier article entitled "Pick Your Path".
Reward
The most rewarding feelingOf writing poetry I'd say,
Is when you touch a person's heart
In some very special way
It's not about being published
Or the prize money you can win.
It is about writing from the heart
To release feelings from within.
Truth in what you write
About living out each day,
A lesson to be shared,
Or misfortune that came your way.
When a heartfelt note or call
Comes to the writer that wrote,
It stirs all the senses.
Puts a lump right in your throat.
