About Rick Bessette
Rick Bessette, a native Vermonter, was raised on the historic property of Shelburne Farms. The Farm has given him a firsthand appreciation of nature and the peace and harmony its existence has upon our daily lives. Rick's poetry reflects his observations of people, wildlife and the abundant woodlands and mountain vistas of Vermont.
Rick has recently been published by Poetry.com as well as being chosen to be a part of a compilation presented to Mel Gibson on Easter Sunday, 2004, in appreciation of the movie "The Passion of the Christ".
In addition to poetry, Rick is also an accomplished woodcarver. He enjoys carving duck decoys, some of which were donated by Rick for auction to benefit Ducks Unlimited and The Canadian Wildlife Preservation. He has also been invited to give carving demonstrations at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont.
Rick currently lives with his wife, Candy, and sons, Jeremy and Travis, in the Village of Shelburne, Vermont. When not writing poetry, carving ducks or tending to his property management business, Rick still finds time to volunteer at the local hospice.
